Privacy Policy
Effective 23 October 2026. How GiveMeAFuckingJ*b collects, uses, shares and protects personal information.
This Privacy Policy explains how GiveMeAFuckingJ*b ("we", "us" or "our") collects, uses, shares and protects personal information when you use our desktop application, our website at givemeafuckingjob.com and the GiveMeAFuckingJ*b social network on it (the "Website"), and the online services that support them (together, the "Service").
The application is published on the Microsoft Store under the name "GMAFJ" (the "App").
By using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read this Privacy Policy. Please also read our Terms of Use and our AI Disclosure, which explain the rules for using the Service and how it uses artificial intelligence.
1. Summary
- The Website is a professional social network for getting a job. You have a profile, share posts, follow, like and recommend people, message them, and search and apply to jobs.
- Your profile and the posts you share are meant to be seen by other people. You choose who sees what in Settings, as Section 4 explains. We review every post and every profile design before it is shown, as Section 6 explains.
- The App searches for jobs, applies to them, fills in your profiles on job sites and prepares emails for you, using the information you give it. Jobs you send from the Website with One click apply are applied to by the App.
- To do this, the Service sends the relevant parts of your information to our servers, to third-party AI providers, and to the job sites, employers and people you choose to contact.
- Your sign-ins to job sites and email accounts are stored on your device. We do not receive the passwords for those accounts.
- Everything on the Service is free until 31 December 2026, and we do not collect payment details.
- The Service shows no advertising. We do not sell your personal information or share it for targeted advertising.
- You can access, correct or delete your information in Settings or by contacting us at the address in Section 17.
2. Information We Collect
(a) Information you provide
- Account information: your name, email address and password. We store your password only in hashed form. To keep out fake accounts, we accept sign-ups only from addresses at major email providers.
- Your profile on the Website: your username, name, pronouns, photo, cover picture, bio, location, About, links (the name you give each and its address), experience, education, licenses and certifications, projects with their pictures, YouTube videos and skills, volunteering, honors and awards, languages and skills; whether you are open to work, with the roles, places, workplaces, kinds of job and start you are looking for, or hiring; and the posts you pin to your profile.
- Your profile design: the HTML, CSS and JavaScript files, and the pictures, with their file names, you use to design your own profile page. What you drop in is kept as a draft until you send it for review or remove it.
- What you share: posts, pictures and GIFs, comments and replies, likes, reposts, endorsements, and the profiles you like and recommend.
- Messages: the messages and message requests you send to other members, and the posts you send in them.
- Communities: the communities you make or join, your role in each (owner, admin or member), whether an admin let you write in one or stopped you, and the messages you write in them.
- Your network: the people you follow, the people who follow you, your requests to follow private accounts, the people you block, and the content you report.
- Your profile in the App: contact details, location, education, work history, skills, languages, certifications, awards, links, job preferences (such as job titles, locations, salary expectations and working arrangements), work authorization, and similar details that job applications ask for. You can copy parts of it into your profile on the Website with "Fill in from the desktop app"; your contact details are never copied.
- Optional sensitive information: some employers ask about characteristics such as gender, disability status, veteran status or ethnicity. If you choose to provide these details in the App, we process them only to answer those employers' questions on your behalf. You may leave them blank. They are never shown on your profile.
- Résumés and documents: résumés and other files you add to the App or that the App builds for you.
- Communications: messages you send us, such as support requests and feedback.
(b) Information created when you use the Service
- Activity on the Website: the posts shown to you on Home, the posts you open, hide or save, the profiles you view, the jobs shown to you in the Jobs tab of Home and the ones you mark "Not interested", the jobs you save, apply to or send to the App with One click apply, and your notifications.
- Application activity: the searches the App runs, the jobs found, the applications submitted, the questions asked by job sites and employers, the answers given, and their status. This information is stored mainly on your device.
- AI requests and responses: the questions and context sent to AI providers and the answers they return, as described in Section 7 and in our AI Disclosure.
- Email activity: the people you choose to contact, the drafts prepared for you, and the messages you approve and send.
- Review decisions: the reviewer's reasons for decisions about your posts and design.
(c) Information collected automatically
- Device and connection information: IP address, device type, operating system, browser, App version, and approximate location derived from your IP address.
- Session and security information: sign-in times, the devices signed in to your account, and records needed to prevent abuse, such as how many people you follow in a day.
- Service logs: records of requests to our servers, such as their time and outcome. Our logs are designed to exclude the content of your profile, your messages and your AI requests.
- Diagnostic logs: the App's crash and error logs are stored on your device and are not sent to us unless you choose to share them.
(d) Information from others
- Other members: other members may provide information about you, for example by mentioning you in a post or comment, endorsing your skills, liking or recommending your profile, sending you a message, or reporting content.
- Job sites: when the App works on a job site using your sign-in, it reads the information that site shows you, such as job postings, application forms, your existing profile on that site and your account name, so that it can fill in forms correctly and avoid duplicate entries.
- Public information about people you contact: when you use the App's email feature, the App may read publicly available information about the people you choose to contact, such as their name, role, employer and public professional profile, to address and personalize your message.
3. How We Use Information
- To run the social network: to show your profile, posts and activity to others as your settings allow, deliver your messages and notifications, and let you follow, message, endorse, like and recommend people.
- To choose what you see: we rank the posts in the "For you" tab of your Home and choose the people we suggest you follow automatically, using signals such as the people you follow and who follows you, the posts and profiles you engage with, open or hide, how recent a post is, and the companies, schools, skills and places in profiles. The profiles recommended by the people you follow appear among them. The "Following" tab shows posts and recommendations from the people you follow, newest first, without ranking. We also rank the jobs in the Jobs tab of Home, using the job titles you are open to, your bio and roles, the jobs you saved or applied to, where you want to work, the jobs the people you follow applied to, how recent a job is, and the jobs you marked "Not interested". These choices are not used to make decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.
- To show the activity of the people you follow: which of them liked a post, which profiles they recommend, and which applied to a job through GiveMeAFuckingJ*b, unless they turned that off.
- To provide the App: to search for jobs, fill in and submit applications and job-site profiles, answer application questions, build your résumé, prepare the emails you approve, and apply to the jobs you send it from the Website.
- To personalize what the Service produces: answers, cover letters, profile summaries and email drafts based on your information and preferences.
- To keep your App profile the same on every device you sign in on.
- To keep the community safe: to review posts and profile designs before they are shown, look into reported content, detect and prevent fraud, spam, abuse and unauthorized access, and enforce our Terms of Use.
- To create and maintain your account and verify your email address.
- To send you service messages, such as verification codes, security notices, the outcome of our review of your posts and profile designs, and important changes to the Service.
- To operate and improve the Service: to check for updates, show service notices, troubleshoot problems and improve reliability and features.
- To comply with the law and respond to lawful requests.
4. What Other People Can See
- Your profile: everyone signed in to GiveMeAFuckingJ*b can see your profile, your profile design once we approve it, how many people follow you and how many you follow, and how many people like and recommend your profile. Unless you turn it off in Settings, visitors without an account can see it too, and it may be found through search engines.
- Who can follow you: anyone can follow a public account at once. If you turn on "Private account" in Settings, you approve each request to follow you. Your name, photo, bio, links and profile sections stay visible to everyone.
- Your posts: you choose whether each post is for "Anyone" or for "Followers only". A post for "Anyone" can be seen by anyone with its link, including people without an account, and members can like it, comment on it, repost it and send it to anyone. A post for "Followers only" can be seen only by you and your followers. If your account is private, every post can be seen only by your followers. Comments and likes can be seen by everyone who can see the post. We review each post before it appears on anyone's Home or in search, as Section 6 explains.
- Your activity: people who follow you may see on their Home that you liked or commented on a post. They may also see your face on a job you applied to with Apply or One click apply, unless you turn off "People who follow me can see the jobs I apply to"; then you are counted, never named.
- Profile views: when you open someone's profile while signed in, it counts as a view. They see how many people viewed their profile, never who.
- Your followers and the people you follow: everyone can see these lists if your account is public. If it is private, only your followers can see them. You can remove a follower at any time.
- Your email address: you choose who can see it in your contact info: anyone signed in to GiveMeAFuckingJ*b, people you follow who also follow you, or nobody. People without an account never see it.
- Endorsements: anyone signed in to GiveMeAFuckingJ*b can endorse the skills on your profile, and the endorsements are shown on it.
- Likes and recommendations of profiles: anyone signed in to GiveMeAFuckingJ*b can like your profile or recommend it. Members can see who liked a profile and who recommends it. When you recommend a profile, the people who follow you see it on their Home, and it is shown, with your name, on that profile and on yours. Your list of the profiles you recommend follows your account's privacy; your recommendation on the other profile does not. You can undo your likes and recommendations, and take someone's recommendation of you off your profile, at any time.
- Messages: anyone can message anyone. A message between two people who follow each other reaches the recipient's inbox. Any other message goes to the recipient's message requests, where they can accept or delete it, and the sender does not see that a request was read until it is accepted. A message can be seen only by you and the person you sent it to, except as described in Section 6.
- Communities: anyone signed in to GiveMeAFuckingJ*b can find a community, see its name, what it is about and how many members it has, and read its messages. Its members can see who else is in it and who its owner and admins are. The messages you write in a community can be seen by everyone who opens it.
- Blocking: when you block someone, neither of you can see the other's profile, posts, comments or messages on the Service, including their messages in communities, and any following between you ends.
5. How We Share Information
We share personal information only as described below.
(a) With other members and visitors
The Service shows your profile, posts and activity to others as described in Section 4.
(b) At your direction
The App sends your information to the job sites and employers you apply to or keep a profile with, as part of each application or profile it completes for you, including the jobs you send it from the Website. It sends the emails you approve to their recipients through your own email account. Those parties handle the information under their own privacy policies.
(c) Service providers
We use third parties to help us run the Service, including providers of hosting and infrastructure, network security and delivery, AI models, and email delivery for account messages, and, when paid plans are offered, payment processing. They receive only the information they need to perform their services.
(d) Legal and safety reasons
We may disclose information to comply with applicable law, legal process or enforceable government requests; to protect the rights, property or safety of our users, the public or us; and to enforce our Terms of Use.
(e) Business transfers
If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Privacy Policy.
(f) With your consent
We may share information in other ways when you ask us to or agree to it.
We do not sell personal information or share it for targeted advertising.
6. Moderation and Review
- We review every post you share before it appears on anyone's Home or in search. Until it is approved, it appears only on your profile. A post that is not approved can be seen only by you, with the reviewer's reason, which we also send to you by email. When you edit a post, we review it again before it returns to anyone's Home. A recommendation of a profile adds nothing of its own, so it is not reviewed.
- We review every profile design before it is shown. We tell you the outcome by email, with the reviewer's reason when the design is not approved. A design is HTML, CSS and JavaScript, shown in a sealed frame on the profile page: its scripts can read nothing of your account, your session or the rest of the page, and can send nothing anywhere.
- We review content that members report. To act on a report about a message, we can read that message, and only that one.
- A community is run by the member who made it and the admins they choose: they decide who may write in it and can remove members. We may delete any community that breaks our Terms of Use.
- We may remove content and restrict accounts as our Terms of Use describe.
7. Artificial Intelligence
- The App uses third-party AI models to write answers to application questions, cover letters, profile summaries and email drafts, and to help it operate the pages of job sites.
- For each task, it sends the relevant information, such as the question being asked, the options offered, details about the job or the recipient, and the relevant parts of your profile, to our servers, which pass it to an AI provider.
- To keep answers consistent, the AI provider may keep a conversation linked to your account that contains your profile information and earlier questions.
- AI providers process this information under their own terms and may retain it. Their terms may allow them to use it to improve their services. Do not add information to your profile that you do not want processed in this way.
- The Website offers a prompt you can copy into an AI tool of your own choice to design your profile page. The prompt tells your AI how the files of a design must be made; what you add to it, and any files you attach, are yours to choose. Whatever you give that tool is handled under its own terms, not ours.
Our AI Disclosure explains what the AI does, its limits, and your responsibilities.
8. Storage, Retention and Deletion
- On your device: the App's application history, saved answers, résumés, settings, and your sign-ins to job sites and email accounts remain on your device until you delete them or remove the App and its data. Stored secrets are protected with your operating system's encryption.
- On our servers: we keep your account, profiles, posts, comments, likes, recommendations, messages, follows and pictures while your account is open, until you delete them. Records of the posts shown to you and opened by you are kept for 90 days, profile views for 120 days, and notifications you have read for 90 days. Pictures that nothing uses are deleted after a day; pictures uploaded for a profile design are kept until you remove them or delete your account. AI requests are kept only as long as needed to deliver the answers, normally no longer than 24 hours. Verification codes are deleted within a day. Session and security records are kept for as long as they are needed for security.
- Content you delete: when you delete a post, a comment or your profile design, or undo a recommendation, we remove it from the Service. Reposts of a deleted post show that it is no longer available. Copies of a picture that networks and browsers keep to load pages faster can take up to a day to disappear.
- Backups: copies of server data may remain in backups for a limited period before they are overwritten.
- Account deletion: you can delete your account in Settings. We then delete your account, profiles, posts, comments, likes, recommendations, messages, follows and pictures from our active systems, except information we must keep to comply with the law, resolve disputes or prevent fraud. Information already submitted to job sites, employers, email recipients or AI providers is held by them under their own policies, and we cannot delete it for you. Other people may have saved or copied what you shared publicly before it was deleted.
9. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal information, including encryption in transit, encryption of the App profiles and the messages stored on our servers, hashed passwords, a sign-in cookie that the Website's scripts cannot read, checks that every uploaded picture really is a JPEG, PNG or GIF (JPEG and PNG pictures are rewritten, which removes hidden data such as camera location), profile designs shown in a sealed frame whose scripts can reach neither your session nor our servers, operating-system protection for secrets stored on your device, and limited access to our systems. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for protecting your device and your account credentials. Please report any security concern to the address in Section 17.
10. Cookies and Similar Technologies
- When you sign in on the Website, we set a cookie that keeps you signed in until you log out or have not used the Website for 30 days. It is used only to sign you in, and the Website's scripts cannot read it.
- The Website also keeps a few small preferences in your browser, such as which tab of Home you last chose and whether you were signed in, so that the page shows the right menus at once. They stay on your device.
- The App's built-in browser stores cookies for the job sites and email accounts you sign in to, so that you stay signed in. These are kept on your device and used only to operate those sites for you.
- The Service uses no advertising cookies. Neither the App nor the Website shows ads.
- We do not use third-party analytics tools.
11. Your Choices
- You can view and edit your profile on the Website in Settings, and your profile in the App in the App.
- In Settings you choose whether your account is private, whether visitors without an account can see your profile, whether people who follow you see the jobs you apply to, and who can see your email address.
- You choose who can see each post ("Anyone" or "Followers only"), and you can edit or delete your posts and comments at any time.
- You can hide posts you do not want to see, block people, remove people who follow you, accept or delete message requests, and report content.
- You can take someone's recommendation of you off your profile, and undo your own likes and recommendations of profiles at any time.
- You can stop a job search, an application run or a profile update in the App at any time. No email is sent until you approve it.
- You can see every device signed in to your account and sign any of them out in the App.
- You can stop using the Service at any time, and delete your account in Settings or ask us to delete it.
12. Your Rights
(a) Everyone
You may ask us to confirm whether we process your personal information, to give you a copy of it, and to correct or delete it. We will not discriminate against you for making a request.
(b) European Economic Area, United Kingdom and Switzerland
You have the right to access, rectify and erase your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing, to data portability, to withdraw consent at any time without affecting earlier processing, and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. We rely on the following legal bases: performance of our contract with you, to provide the Service, including showing your profile and posts as you choose; our legitimate interests, to rank your Home, suggest people, secure and improve the Service, keep the community safe, prevent fraud, and prepare the messages you choose to send; your consent, for optional sensitive information; and compliance with legal obligations. You may object to the ranking of your Home at any time by using its "Following" tab.
(c) California and other US states
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use and disclose it, to access, correct and delete it, to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information and of targeted advertising, and to limit the use of sensitive personal information. We do not sell personal information or share it for targeted advertising. We collect identifiers, professional and employment information, education information, internet activity information (including your activity on the Website), approximate location, the content you share, and, if you provide it, sensitive personal information, for the purposes in Section 3. We use sensitive personal information only to provide the Service you request. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16.
(d) India
Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you may ask for a summary of the personal data we process and of the parties we share it with, ask us to correct, complete, update or erase it, withdraw your consent, nominate another person to exercise your rights in the event of your death or incapacity, and seek redress of grievances by contacting us.
(e) How to make a request
Email us at the address in Section 17. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request, and we will respond within the time required by applicable law. You may use an authorized agent where the law allows. If we decline your request, you may ask us to reconsider it by replying to our decision.
13. International Transfers
We and our service providers may process personal information in India and in other countries, including countries whose data protection laws differ from those where you live. Where the law requires it, we take appropriate steps to protect personal information that is transferred.
14. Children
The Service is intended only for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a person under 18 has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
15. Third-Party Sites and Services
The App works on third-party websites and services, such as job sites and email providers. The jobs listed on the Website open the pages of their employers and job sites, and members' profiles, posts and designs may link to other sites. Their own privacy policies govern how they handle your information. We are not responsible for their practices.
Videos in posts, projects and profile designs are YouTube's, shown in its privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). When a post or project with a video is shown, your browser loads the video's picture from YouTube, and its player when you press play; in a profile design, the player loads as it comes into view. YouTube, a Google service, then receives information such as your IP address and browser under Google's Privacy Policy. A profile design may also load fonts from Google Fonts and code libraries from cdnjs, run by Cloudflare.
16. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page with a new effective date and, if the changes are material, tell you on the Website, in the App or by email. Your continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the updated policy.
17. Contact Us
For questions, requests or complaints about privacy, including grievances under Indian law, contact us at [email protected] with "Privacy" in the subject line.
